Founded in 1872 by Bruno Nadeau who was born in the State of Maine.  He married Frances Janef and eight children were born; four of their children: David, Louis, Barney and Marcell were known as « The Nadeau Brothers ». In 1880, the four brothers started a saw mill in the area then known as section 36 of Menominee County, Michigan, and they employed twenty-five men providing railroad ties to the Chicago and North Western Rail Road.  In 1880, Barney Nadeau was appointed the first postmaster and section 36 Menominee County Michigan was named « Nadeau Township ».  At that time the railroad station was constructed and the Nadeau Brothers opened a general merchandise store and the first school was opened.  In the year of 1887, Bruno Nadeau donated land and building material to build the first Catholic Church in Nadeau.  The work of building the church was done by the men living in Nadeau and were supervised by Father Martin Fox and Louis Nadeau.  Before this first church was built, Mass was held in the large living room in Bruno Nadeau’s House.  The new church was named St-Bruno’s Catholic Church of Nadeau, Michigan.

The main industry in the 1870’s was lumbering; then when the lumbering era was over; farming became the main industry of Nadeau Township.

The first Sunday in August 1987, St-Bruno’s Catholic Church will celebrate their first 100 years anniversary.

The last Nadeau living there was burried in septembre the fifth, 1986, in St-Bruno’s cemetary.
